Diana DeVusser, FounderDiana's Dance Academy was founded in 1969 by Diana DeVusser.  

"Miss Diana" packed away her dance shoes in May 2016 and although Miss Diana no longer teaches or is a part of the everyday operation of the academy she enjoys hearing about the students and attending any perfomances the students do throughout the year.
She continues to be a member of the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce, Project Care, and other local community organizations.  Her tireless efforts for her community are just part of her energy and zest for life.

Connie DeVusser, Owner/Director


Connie DeVusser began dancing at age 4.  She always enjoyed performing but realized that her strongest desire was to teach and share her love of dance.  

In 1980, "Miss Connie" began teaching at Diana's Dance Academy; and since 1995 has combined both teaching and managing the academy. In June 2017 Connie became owner of Diana's Dance Academy.

Miss Connie's credentials include the following:

  • Certified Instructor of Dance Masters of America Inc.(DMA); member since 1987
  • Member of Carolina Dance Masters(CDM) Chapter 15
  • Has served on the CDM Board of Directors and is currently the Secretary for CDM
  • Successful certificates of completion from the Ballet and Jazz exams from CDM Chapter 15 and DMA Teachers Training School, completing Grades I, II, III, IV.
  • A recipient of several choreography awards

"Miss Connie" has also been honored by her students as they have won numerous competitions.  Her students have performed with the Ballet for Young Audiences dance company in the productions of Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Jungle Book, and Pirates.

Meet Our Staff

Brittany Grube

 Brittany was raised on the island of Kauai, Hawaii from the age of 5 - 18.   During those years,she was trained in Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Character,   Spanish dance, Hip Hop and Hula.  She trained under North Shore Ballet,   Kauai Ballet Academy and Kauai Royal Ballet Academy.  She also   performed "Nutcracker" with Ballet Hawaii.

 After graduating High School she moved to California where she attended   Glendale College and Saddleback College.  She performed and   choreographed for the dance production classes at both colleges.  She graduated from Saddleback College in 2004 with an A.A. in Dance.

In 2005 she became a Ballroom Dance Instructor for Arthur Murray Dance Studios.  While teaching at Arthur Murray she trained in all forms of social dances and competed professionally.

After she married, they were stationed in Oahu, Hawaii where she was an instructor for Di's Dance Academy.  She taught all age groups in Ballet, Tap, Lyrical and Hip Hop.

The Marine Corp is what brought Brittany and her family to Jacksonville, NC.  She has been a military spouse for 10 years and has two boys with her husband Billy.

Kendria Gupton

Kendria was born in Rocky Mount, NC and moved to Jacksonville, NC when she was in third grade.  Kendria has been dancing since the age of five.  She was a cheerleader throughout middle school.  Her family moved to Okinawa, Japan in 2004 and this is where she picked up on dancing.  She has coached a recreational cheer team for two years while also being a member of a hip hop dance team.  When she returned from Japan she attended college in Greensboro, NC and danced on and off for four years doing talent shows and choreographing for local groups.

Kendria graduated college in 2011 and returned home to Jacksonville where she has been choreographing for a local girl group.  Even though hip hop is not often thought of as a technical dance it has always been a love of hers and she loves passing it on to other people.

Hannah Jones

 As a Jacksonville native, Hannah is excited to be back home sharing her   passion for dance.  She began dancing at age 3, and completed over 10   years of training at DDA in ballet, pointe, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, tap, hip   hop, and musical theater.  During this time, she was an active  member of   the competition team and assisted Ms. Connie with the beginning dance   classes.  Following her graduation from Jacksonville High School in 2016,   Hannah continued her studies at Meredith College and graduated with a   B.A. in Dance Education with a K-12 teaching license in 2020.  While there,   Hannah choreographed and performed in student and faculty dance concerts, was a Full-Company Member of the Meredith Dance Theatre, and completed her student teaching internship for Dance at Oberlin Magner Middle School in Raleigh, NC.  Hannah is also excited to be taking over the direction of Richlands High School's Dance Department during the 2020-21 school year.  She looks forward to helping her students cultivate empathy and creativity through dance.

Heather Stanley

 Heather has been dancing since the age of 5 and   has always dreamed of being a dance teacher.  She   received her B.A. in Dance and Theatre Arts with a   concentration in acting/directing from East   Stroudsburg University.  Upon graduating, Heather   remained in PA to own and operate her own dance   studio for 7 years.  During that time, she ran the local   YMCA dance program.  She was also the choreographer for a high school color guard and during the day she taught K-12 dance education at the local charter school.

Heather returned to her home state of NJ in 2006 and taught at several studios before moving to NC.  She has choreographed for many competitions which have received many awards.  Heather also had the pleasure of serving as Tap Captain for Macy's Tap-o-Mania in New York City for 4 years.  She loves sharing her gift of dance for 25 years now and looks forward to teaching here at Diana's Dance Academy.

Veronica Welch

 Veronica is a native of Onslow County and began dancing at age 6.  She   is the mother of two children, one of which graduated from ECU with a   Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Dance Performance.  For over 20 years,   Veronica has trained dancers of all levels in Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary,   Hip Hop, Ballet, Modern, Preschool, Tap/Ballet, Acrobatics and Character   Production.  Her students have been accepted at numerous prestigous s   schools throughout the country for summer intensive studies.  She is   certified through Carolina Dance Masters and Dance Masters of America.   Her choreography and comeptition teams, soloist, duets and trios have won numerous awards.  She has choreographed for the MGM Performing Arts Troupe, The Power Pack Dance Team, The Nutcracker Ballet, The Crystal Coast Jamboree, Worthy Is The Lamb Passion Play, West Carteret Marching Band's Christmas Extravaganza Show, East Carteret Marching Mariners' Colorguard performances and Winterguard Show, East Carteret Show Choir, as well as, recital and competition pieces at various local studios.  Veronica believes dance requires hard work and discipline but, above all, it should be FUN!
